This new and unique Continuing Education Certificate Program at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto offers both academic and practical experience over a period of 39 weeks, from September 2006 to June 2007, one day per week.  Each day will entail 3 hours of coursework at the Faculty of Social Work, 3 hours of practical experience, and 1 hour of supervision.

The program comprises three courses, which will focus on theories, models and research associated with therapeutic change, and child and adolescent development and practice with children, adolescents and their families.  The clinical experience will incorporate supervised practice in the two partner agencies, The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre and Integra, with varying degrees of time spent at each agency.  The practice experience will provide candidates with exposure to, and clinical experience in, different frameworks in child and adolescent therapy, including individual, family and group modalities.  Understanding and working with children who have learning disabilities will also be a focus.
